Lecture Audios: To Download

Your lecturer may have recorded classes on campus and made the recordings available online, particularly if there are online students. Some lecturers will embed audio into a power point.
If there are lecture audios, they will be clearly labelled; they are normally linked on a page:
There are a number of reasons for this:
- You may want to keep the audio file
- You may want to listen to it on another device, eg. MP3 player, iPod, tablet, iPhone, etc.
- You may want to be able to rewind or fast forward more readily
- You may want to stop the audio part way through and return to later
- Other members in the home may want to use the computer, and internet while you want to listen to the lecture
To download the audio:
- Click on the Lecture Audio resource link to open it
- Right mouse click on the Lecture Audio link, eg. on Lecture Audio 1 link as shown below (not the little audio player). DO NOT do a right click on the audio link itself on the main subject page, to download, as this won't work. Do a left mouse click on it to open first.
- Select Save Link As / Save Target As (depending on your browser):
- Select which folder the audio file is to be saved, and click Save.
Your audio file will begin downloading. Depending on your internet connection, this may take sometime.
Important: if the audio still does not play, or finishes too early, or sound is inaudible, even after downloading it, please send a Helpdesk ticket, with the details: name of unit, week/section/topic where the audio is, and what is happening (or not happening).
If you do want to listen to the lecture online (ie. by clicking the little play arrow along the black bar when you have opened the lecture link), or you have trouble with your internet connection while downloading the audio file. you may find the Download manager program helpful. Download this program free here.
